FERC approves removal of Load-Serving Entity (LSE) as a functional registration category
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission took action on NERC’s Risk-Based Registration compliance filing and petition for approval of Rules of Procedure during its monthly meeting today.

NERC submitted a compliance filing to FERC on July 17, 2015 requesting that FERC approve the removal of the load-serving entity functional registration category from the NERC Compliance Registry, accept NERC’s responses to FERC’s concerns and approve limited changes to the Rules of Procedure.

NERC’s Risk-Based Registration Initiative, which was launched in 2014, ensures that the right entities are subject to the right set of NERC Reliability Standards by using a consistent approach to registration and risk assessment throughout the Electric Reliability Organization. NERC appreciates FERC’s continued support of the Risk-Based Registration Initiative and will submit an informational filing in 15 months, as directed.
