CPS1 and Balancing Authority ACE Limit ( “BAAL”) Bounds
File Size Date Description
Excel   201 KB 7/28/2016 EB. Eastern Interconnection Excel workbook for displaying BA Bounds – simply enter your Frequency Bias (negative value). The EB workbook displays the CPS1 and Balancing Authority ACE Limit (BAAL) bounds based upon the Frequency Bias entered for the appropriate Interconnection. Tabs are provided for displaying the bounds when Scheduled Frequency is 59.98Hz, 60 Hz, and 60.02 Hz.

E1W1 (Eastern Interconnection and Western Interconnection) Workbook for real-time monitoring and/or review of a 30-minute period.

Excel workbook for Real-Time Data Acquisition Using OSI PI DataLink. Calculates and displays performance under Standard BAL-001-2 for current minute and prior 29 clock-minutes from scan-rate data. Workbook acquires variables including ACE, Actual Frequency and Time-Error Correction Offset from 60 Hz (some EMS systems may use a value representing the offset from 60 Hz to determine Scheduled Frequency).

E2W2 (Eastern Interconnection and Western Interconnection) Workbook for real-time monitoring and/or review of a 30-minute period.

Same as E1W1 except workbook uses Scheduled Frequency data from PI rather than the Time-Error Correction Offset from 60 Hz.

ED (Eastern Interconnection) and WD (Western Interconnection)

Excel workbook for quick review of daily performance under Standard BAL-001-2 using data from an OSI PI DataLink server. The workbook is protected (no password) to avoid inadvertent modification of protected cells. The “Parameters” tab is the only worksheet with unprotected cells to allow for entry of needed information of Balancing Authority fields and Interconnection-specific fields.

ED1 and WD1 use data for the Time-Error Correction Offset from 60 Hz to determine the Scheduled Frequency, whereas ED2 and WD2 directly pull the Scheduled Frequency data. Values from the daily information can be pasted/appended into a separate file to compile a complete month – see instructions for more information.

EM (Eastern Interconnection) and WM (Western Interconnection)

Excel workbook for after-the-fact review of performance under Standard BAL-001-2 and provision of monthly clock-minute data in the Field Trial format. The EM workbook provides a simple approach for after-the-fact review of performance under Standard BAL-001-2 and provision of monthly clock-minute data in the Field Trial format. Some variables in the workbook contain formulas specific to the Interconnection. The workbook allows the user to input clock-minute data for the month and then copy formulas which calculate the low and high Balancing Authority ACE Limit (BAAL) bounds and increment the clock-minutes whenever ACE is outside the BAAL bounds. The worksheet can be saved in CSV format for submittal of monthly data under the Field Trial.
